A gap between us,
a deep hole of silence,
an empty glass of wine,
a book with torn pages,
a sad and everlasting good-bye.

Como Tú
Así es mi vida,
piedra,
como tú; como tú,
piedra pequeña;
como tú,
piedra ligera;
como tú,
canto que ruedas
por las calzadas
y por las veredas;
como tú,
guijarro humilde de las carreteras;
como tú,
que en días de tormenta
te hundes
en el cieno de la tierra
y luego
centellas
bajo los cascos
y bajo las ruedas;
como tú, que no has servido
para ser ni piedra
de una Lonja,
ni piedra de una Audiencia,
ni piedra de un Palacio,
ni piedra de una Iglesia;
como tú,
piedra aventurera;
como tú,
que, tal vez, estás hecha
sólo para una honda,
piedra pequeña
y
ligera ...

Corazón interior no necesita
la miel helada que la luna vierte.
Pero yo te sufrí. Rasgué mis venas,
tigre y paloma, sobre tu cintura
en duelo de mordiscos y azucenas.
Llena, pues, de palabras mi locura
o déjame vivir en mi serena
noche del alma para siempre oscura.

Poema II
Rostro pensativo
iluminado por las luces del vagón,
llorando en silencio la pérdida del encuentro.
-siguiente parada-
Rostro casado
reposando la mejilla en la ventana,
pensando en el ayer, esperando su destino.
-siguiente parada-
Rostro demacrado por la rutina diaria,
deseando encontrar un asiento libre,
un rincón donde descansar el alma.
-siguiente parada-

Another Poem on Poetry
Stealing lives, stealing souls,
As rapacious birds we come and go.
Breaking hearts, breaking bones,
As insatiable predators we hurt.
Invoking mankind, invoking God,
As indifferent preachers we become.

February
Winter. Time to eat fat
and watch hockey. In the pewter mornings, the cat,
a black fur sausage with yellow
Houdini eyes, jumps up on the bed and tries
to get onto my head. it´s his
way of telling whether or not I'm dead.
If I'm not, he wants to be scratched; if I am
he'll think of something. He settles
on my chest, breathing his breath
of burped-up meat and musty sofas,
purring like a washboard. Some other tomcat,
not yet a capon, has been spraying our front door,
declaring war. It's all about sex and territory,
which are what will finish us off
in the long run. Some cat owners around here
should snip a few testicles. If we wise
hominids were sensible, we'd do that too,
or eat our young, like sharks.
But it's love that does in us. Over and over
again, He shoots, he scores! and famine
crouches in the bedsheets, ambushing and pulsing
eiderdown, and the windchill factor hits
thirty below, and pollution pours
out of our chimmneys to keep us warm.
February, month of despair,
with a skewered heart in the centre.
I think dire thoughts, and lust for French fries
with a splash of vinegar.
Cat, enough of your greedy whining
and your small pink bumhole.
Off my face! You're the life principle,
more or less, so get going
on a little optimism around here.
Get rid of death. Celebrate increase. Make it be spring.
Margaret Atwood, Morning in the Burned House.

Merry Christmas to You All
little tree
little silent Christmas tree
you are so little
you are more like a flower
who found you in the green forest
and were you very sorry to come away?
see i will comfort you
becuase you smell so sweetly
i will kiss your cool bark
and hug you safe and tight
just as your mother would,
only don't be afraid
look the spangles
that sleep all the year in a dark box
dreaming of being taken out and allowed to shine,
the balls the chains red and gold the fluffy threads,
put up your little arms
and i'll give them all to you to hold
every finger shall have its ring
and there won't be a single place dark or unhappy
then when you're quite dressed
you'll stand in the window for everyone to see
and how they'll stare!
oh but you'll be very proud
and my little sister and i will take hands
and looking up at our beautiful tree
we'll dande and sing
"Noel Noel"

BOSE ZIET
Nun sind wil still
Und singen keine Lieder mehr,
Der Schritt wird schwer;
Das ist die Nacht, die kimmen will.
Gib mir die Hand,
Vielleicht ist unser Weg nocht weit.
Es schneit, es scheit!
Hart ist der Winter im fremden Land.
Wo ist die Zeit,
Da uns ein Licht, ein Herd gebrannt?
Gib me die Hand!
Vielleicht ist unse Weg nocht weit.

Y ahora callamos
No cantamos más;
La paz se ha alejado
Llegó la noche, falaz. . .
a
b
b
a

A Poem on Poetry
Poetry is our soul's salvation.
Poetry is the path to redemption.
Poetry is your stunning smile
Reminding me you're alive.
Poetry is an old man keeping memories.
Poetry is a cosmos erasing boundaries.
Poetry is my daring finger
Drawing your body when it glitters.
Poetry is the path to redemption.
Poetry is your stunning smile
Reminding me you're alive.
Poetry is an old man keeping memories.
Poetry is a cosmos erasing boundaries.
Poetry is my daring finger
Drawing your body when it glitters.

To Autumn
O autumn, laden with fruit, and stained
With the blood of the grape, pass not, but sit
Beneath my shady roof, there thou may'st rest,
And tune thy jolly voice to my fresh pipe;
And all the daughters of the year shall dance!
Sing now the lusty song of fruit and flowers.
"The narrow bud opens her beauties to
The sun, and love runs in her thrilling veins;
Blossoms hang round the brows of morning, and
Flourish down the bright cheek of modest eve,
Till clust'ring Summer breaks forth into singing,
And feather'd clouds strew flowers round her head.
"The spiritis of the air live on the smells
Of fruit; and joy, with pinions light, roves round
The gardens, or sits singing in the trees."
Thus sang the jolly Autumn as he sat;
Then rose, girded himself, and o'er the bleak
Hills fled from our sight; but left his golden load.

To whom it may concern
Thinking of you made me shed tears of joy and sadness.
I wish I could know you better.
I wish I could open my heart to say what I really want or need,
But silence always takes over me.
I wish I could walk freely into your arms.
But then, I realize I do not know you,
And your face fades away.
I wish I could know you better.
I wish I could open my heart to say what I really want or need,
But silence always takes over me.
I wish I could walk freely into your arms.
But then, I realize I do not know you,
And your face fades away.

A propósito
INTERMITENCIAS DEL OESTE (2)
(CANCIÓN MEXICANA)
Mi abuelo, al tomar café
me hablaba de Juárez y Porfirio
los zuavos y los plateados.
Y el mantel olía a pólvora
Mi padre, al tomar la copa,
me hablaba de Zapata y Villa,
Soto y Gama y los Flores Magón.
Y el mantel olía a pólvora.
Yo me quedo callado:
¿de quién podría hablar?
Octavio Paz. Ladera Este.
