This is what I´m reading now

A book of stories about Mexicans that live in Mexico City during the 90's. Why am I interested in reading it? I want to know other points of view about us, whether I like them or not.

"Lupe's oldest son, age twenty-one, left with a friend for the other side more that a month before. As far as Lupe know, Jorge is working in Los Angeles and making good money. At least that was the plan. Lupe herself underwrote this trip, matching the four hundred pesos that Jorge had saved with eight hundred that she had put aside. A thousand pesos was earmarked to pay the coyote who would sneak Jorge across the border, she wasn't sure how. The rest was meant to support Jorge while he was laying low and looking for work.

The problem is that Lupe has received no word, let alone money, from Jorge since he crossed the vorder weeks earlier. Now her next two sons, Jose Luis and Ricardo, are preparing to join thier brother in Los Angeles, but the plan is on hold".
